There is good news and bad news when it comes to The Orville.
The good news is that the series, which ended its third season this year, has not been cancelled. Actually, that is really good news considering most shows that are getting cancelled get the axe relatively early after the season ends or even before the season ends. But the bad news for The Orville is that it has yet to be renewed.
Seth MacFarlane, the creator and star of the series, knows fans want to know if they can anticipate their favorite show returning for a fourth season. He, like the rest of us, is still awaiting news. After a fan sent a tweet about watching The Orville from the beginning and hoping for news by the time they reach the end of season three, MacFarlane shared on his Twitter that they’re still awaiting news, and he thanked the fans for their continued support.
Fans of The Orville were relieved at Seth MacFarlane’s update.
The old saying “no news is good news” isn’t necessarily the case all the time, but, in this instance, MacFarlane let us know that there hasn’t been any bad news delivered. And fans were excited to know that the sci-fi series still has a chance of returning for another season. Some even suggested drastic measures if the boom is lowered and the series gets cancelled—start a campaign calling for fans to cancel their Hulu and Disney+ subscriptions.
Suffice it to say that The Orville is a well-loved show, and while it doesn’t have as many fans as the Star Trek franchise, it has found a niche in science fiction and has attracted millions of viewers who are waiting on the edge of their seats for positive news.
