Robin Curtis is well-known to Star Trek fans for playing Lt. Saavik.

Robin Curtis took over the role of Lt. Saavik, the Vulcan officer aboard the Enterprise in 1984, in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. She reprised the role briefly for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home in 1986. Afterwards, she continued acting in other areas, including a two-part episode of Star Trek; The Next Generation “The Gambit” where she played Tallera.

She appeared semi-frequently at Star Trek conventions and, in 2016, she played Lt. Saavik once more on the Star Trek Excelsior podcast. But prior to that, she had been largely retired since 1999, only showing up in singular episodes of series like Bablyon 5, Murder She Wrote, and 7th Heaven. She then went on to become a successful real estate agent in Manlius, New York. But now, Curtis has returned to acting at least for one upcoming project.

Robin Curtis is one of the lead actors in an upcoming horror film.

Curtis will be joining Lance Henriksen and Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. in a horror-thriller that is already filming in New York State. Awaken the Reaper, according to Deadline, “follows a troubled drifter who returns home to begin therapy when he begins experiencing visions of a hooded skeletal figure that brandishes a scythe.”

At the time of this writing, there’s no information as to when the film is expected to be completed or if it will be shown in movie theaters or will be released direct to streaming. The film does mark Curtis’ first return to acting in twenty-three years, and while horror-thriller films and Star Trek don’t go hand-in-hand, to see the former Lt. Saavik onscreen again, some fans might be willing to tune in.

What about you? Will you watch a horror film to see Robin Curtis acting again?
