Star Trek: Prodigy has just put the Federation in its most dire situation ever.

Star Trek: Prodigy has finally put the Federation into its more dire situation ever. For you long-time fans, you know just how dire that really is. After all, the Federation has survived the Xindi, the war with the Klingons, being infiltrated by alien slugs, the constant attacks from the Borg, the attempted occupation of the Dominion, and so many others.

Yet, Prodigy has now put the Federation up against the one enemy they have no hope to beat; themselves. The Living Construct was finally activated by the show’s real villain, Asencia, a former crew member on Vice Admiral Janeway’s ship. Secretly a Vau’Nakat, she was able to get onto the Protostar and opened communication with a Federation fleet, allowing the Living Construct access to their systems, so that it could take them over.

Now that the Living Construct was tied to the ships, the device ordered each ship to attack one other. Salvation looked to be had when non-Federation allies came to their aid, but not long after more Federation ships responding to an automated distress signal arrived. Their constant interaction with the distress signals and their proximity, allowed the Living Construct to take over the reinforcements when they arrived as well.

Painting a bleak future for the ships and crews of the Federation.

Star Trek: Prodigy has a quiet trump card to save the day

In a perfect world, Chakotay would arrive from the future to save the day but most likely what’ll end up happening is the crew of the Protostar may use their Protostar Drive to time travel to some point in the past to prevent this from happening.

If they don’t use that as the way out, it’ll be very interesting to see how they maneuver their current situation. Starfleet has never been in this much trouble before, and finding a way to resolve this will truly be a unique test for all those involved.
