Star Trek has a lot going on to start 2023 that we’re excited about.
You can argue that it’s never been a better time to be a Star Trek fan. You’d have a lot of pushback from older fans who have been around for a while, and they’d be right to do so. We’ve seen a lot of good eras of Trek. What we can’t deny, and won’t ever deny, is that this is a good time to be a Star Trek fan.
It really is. There’s an almost year-long amount of Star Trek being pumped out, quality merchandise, and countless fan events that people can attend. Not only that but it’s never been more accessible to bond with fellow Trekkers. It’s no longer just forums and message boards hosting fans, but social media outlets as well.
Fans everywhere are able to geek out on Trek easier than ever. And in 2023, they have a lot to geek out about. We haven’t even finished the first full week of the year, and we already have so much to look forward to.
Keep in mind, we’re just listing three of our most anticipated things, and everything on here is confirmed and in the works. No speculation on this list (that’s for another).
Three things were excited to see this year from Star Trek
Star Trek: Resurgence
The Telltale-like game, Star Trek: Resurgence, is poised to follow in a long line of great games in the same genre, namely Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Resurgence isn’t being made by Telltale, but instead by Dramatic Labs. Dramatic Labs is a combination of former Telltale employees, however, so there’s a lot of excitement over the possibilities they can do with this property. The hype around this game is pretty high and may be the most anticipated Star Trek game in decades.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season Two
Speaking of hotly anticipated, Strange New Worlds season two is going to be huge. The series finally gave Paramount+ a series that they could market beyond Trek fans, and saw it get rave reviews in the process. While we don’t have the figures, we have to imagine that it brought in the most fans to Paramount+ out of all the Star Trek properties so far, simply due to the critical response alone.
Voyager documentary – “To The Journey”
Following in the footsteps of other documentaries, like Deep Space Nine’s “What We Leave Behind”, Voyager is getting their own called “To The Journey” and fans everywhere, especially the ones old enough to remember the series airing on UPN, are beyond excited. It’s a look back at the peak of an era, and a snapshot of the times. It may be hard to top the documentary’s release.
