Star Trek: Picard’s Patrick Stewart may be hinting at the death of Jean-Luc Picard

Star Trek: Picard is coming to a close and with it, a whole era of Star Trek. The series is going to feature a reunion of the Next Generation crew, and will be a soft sequel of sorts to The Next Generation. That franchise is one so many of us loved and grew up on and will likelyl be closing its doors for good after the final season ends.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be spinoffs, however. There might be. There might be new series, with the familiar faces from a decade gone by, and we may even get a new franchise featuring younger characters introduced in the show’s final season.

Yet, one Picard mainstay may not be coming back for anything once the show ends.

Patrick Stewart may have hinted that Jean-Luc Picard won’t survive Star Trek: Picard

Speaking to the UK Mirror, Stewart may have let it slip that his character isn’t making it out of the show alive. Something we’ve already suggested may be the case. Stewart goes on to say;

"I think the way we close season three is perfect… perfect. It makes me emotional each time I think of it…My idea always was that three seasons were what we really needed to tell what was left of Jean-Luc’s life."

If he does bite the bullet at the end of Picard, it’ll truly mark the end of the Next Generation for good. The Next Generation was not only built around not only his character but Stewart as well. The shows and films never did anything without Stewart, and with him now in his 80s, it stands to reason that he wouldn’t want to attach himself to any more long-term projects.
