CBR recently listed their 10 best Star Trek quotes but which one sums up the new era of Star Trek?

Star Trek is defined by its quotes. So much of the franchise is built around amazing monologues with the most iconic arguably being Benjamin Sisko’s captain’s log in the Deep Space Nine episode, “In the Pale Moonlight”. That entire speech defined the episode perfectly. Great speeches go hand in hand with star Trek.

They define Star Trek and each generation has its own iconic one. For the original series you can argue that it was the opening line of the show each week; “Space, the final frontier…” With the Next Generation era, there are many but for me, it’s the iconic “The line must be drawn here…” rant in First Contact.

But for the new generation, that’s a bit harder to figure out. Well, CBR did their list of the 10 best quotes in Trek history and they may have stumbled upon one that best defines the Nu Trek era of the franchise.

Which quote best defines the Nu Trek era of Star Trek?

CBR listed all quotes from the original series and the Next Generation-Deep Space Nine-Voyager era of shows and films, yet the one quote they pulled from the Nu Trek era belongs to Strange New Worlds. The quote is from the series’ first episode and sees Captain Christopher Pike trying to calm a planet on the brink of annihilation. It prompts Pike to deliver a line that is fitting for the new era of Trek.

"Right up until the very end, life is to be worn gloriously. Because, until our last moment, the future’s what we make it."

This is the perfect quote for the franchise in its current state. The first three shows that the Nu Trek era put out were not universally liked, with Discovery and Picard getting the worst of it and Lower Decks not becoming the Rick and Morty success they clearly made it to be.

No, it was the fifth show that launched; Strange New Worlds, that gave fans hope that the franchise still knew what fans wanted, and it did so in glorious fashion, combining modern designs and classic tales into one wonderful experience.
