Paramount revealed the final trailer for the third season of Star Trek: Picard.

And while there weren’t any surprise characters in the trailer, that didn’t stop fans from asking if we should expect some surprises during the season’s run. One fan reached out to Terry Matalas, the showrunner, on Twitter to ask if there were any unannounced, top-secret cameos we know nothing about in season three of Picard. Matalas responded with one word. Yes.

That tweet and Matalas’ response has been viewed over 74,000 times, and while some fans were okay with not knowing, others made it clear who they wanted to see, suggesting characters from Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas has said he thought it was important for Deep Space Nine fans to be seen.

With Seven of Nine already on Picard and Admiral Janeway and Captain Chakotay on Star Trek: Prodigy, Voyager is being represented, although we certainly wouldn’t mind seeing more of the characters. However, for Deep Space Nine, we’ve had guest appearances on Star Trek: Lower Decks for Armin Shimerman and Nana Visitor, and Michael Dorn will be appearing in season three of Picard. So it’s safe to say that we haven’t seen much from Deep Space Nine.

It’s no wonder fans are hoping for glimpses of other characters from the space station. While one fan is hoping for Captain Sisko, others are speculating that it will be Chief O’Brien who shows up or perhaps Ezri Dax who bears the memories of Worf’s deceased wife, Jadzia.

But top-secret is called that for a reason. Obviously it’s a reveal Matalas doesn’t want made before season three begins. So the countdown is on for the premiere on February 16th. In the meantime, we can speculate all we want!
