The Ready Room with host Wil Wheaton goes behind the scenes of all things Star Trek.

When new episodes of Star Trek are airing, you can expect to see a new episode of The Ready Room with Wil Wheaton, the former Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation, talking with the cast and crew to glean insights into each episode as well as how the actors are feeling about the series as a whole.

Today, Paramount+ aired a special The Ready Room that is all about the final season of Star Trek; Picard. There’s a brief sitdown with Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden as well as the executive producer and showrunner, Terry Matalas, who does leave the door open for future adventures with these characters.

The Ready Room will get you ready for Star Trek: Picard’s final season.

One of the best moments of this video is the tribute to the friendship that exists between Captain Riker and Admiral Picard as well as between the actors who portray those characters. There are glimpses from early episodes of The Next Generation that showcase the friendship as well.

But before you reach that point in the video, a collage of The Next Generation episodes are shown at the beginning that may or may not be connected to the new season of Picard. It could be those clips are shown just to highlight the journeys of The Next Generation crew, but, as Mark A. Altman mentioned in his recent review of the first six episodes of this season, there are key episodes of The Next Generation that tie into the series.

Wil Wheaton’s excitement is palpable as he shares some behind-the-scenes comments from the core cast as well it should be. From everything we’ve seen and heard, this has the makings to be a phenomenal season that not only wraps up Star Trek: Picard but cracks open a door for these characters to walk through again and again.
