Star Trek: Picard is only seven episodes away from coming to a close so spin-offs have been on everyone’s mind.

Now, Giant Freakin’ Robot has made the announcement that such a spin-off is in the works with Worf (Michael Dorn) and Raffi (Michelle Hurd) headling it as part of Starfleet Intelligence. The site relies upon its “trusted and proven sources,” which have been proven correct a number of times. To that end, we very well could see such a series come to life once Star Trek: Picard wraps for the final time.

Recently, Jonathan Frakes revealed Terry Matalas’ idea for a spin-off, which he fully supported. That idea put Raffi as second-in-command aboard a ship with Seven of Nine serving as captain. This rumor would change that structure unless Raffi will be a part of Intelligence while aboard the ship, which is entirely possible. Secrets and clandestine virtual meetings have taken place above just about all of the Starfleet ships over the years.

This Star Trek: Picard spin-off doesn’t sound like the focus will be on the ship.

This spin-off would steer the focus off ships and more into the darker edges of the world. While there’s no claim that either Worf or Raffi would be part of Section 31, Starfleet Intelligence certainly has its seedier side. That seems just about perfect for both Worf and Raffi who proved in “Disengage” that they were up to the task of working undercover.

Now, the question remains is if the series will really go forward, or if it will stall out like the Section 31 series that was supposed to star Michelle Yeoh has. If this moves forward, it may take precedence over the Starfleet Academy series that has been on the backburner as well, seeing as it would open the door for the return of legacy characters, especially if Worf requires some assistance from certain friends in high places.
