Melissa Navia and Celia Rose Gooding choose favorite SNW episode

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stars Melissa Navia and Celia Rose Gooding both have the same taste when it comes to their favorite episode.

The first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was so massively successful, the series was quickly renewed for a second season, and there is already talk of a third season. The creators and designers showed off amazing talent with the sets and the costumes, which led to the series receiving major awards. Now, with the first season coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on March 21st, IGN spoke with Melissa Navia and Celia Rose Gooding to ask about their favorite moment from season one. Not suprisingly, it was difficult for them to choose just one moment. But they did agree on one episode.

“The Elysian Kingdom” was a superb foray into a fantasyland and a visual feast for viewers. Turns out, both Navia and Gooding were just as hyped about the episode as the fans were. Gooding loved the day when everyone got to see their fantasy outfits and said there was “giddy excitement of getting to do something super duper new and out of the ordinary.” She added that it was “really exciting and refreshing.”

"Gooding: “I loved the day when everyone got to see their fantasy outfits for the first time,” Gooding said. “I think we were shooting some other episode at the time, but we were all showing each other pictures of like, ‘This is what I’m wearing, this is what I’m wearing.’ Just that giddy excitement of getting to do something super duper new and out of the ordinary of what we had been shooting at the time. It was just really exciting and refreshing.”"

While Navia said every day was a new high while they were filming season one of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, she added that the fantasy episode basically showed everyone the potential the roles they were in had.

"Navia: “I think for all of Season 1, every day was a new kind of high, but definitely our fantasy episode was… I think for us, it showed us the potential of the roles that we’re in and the worlds that we’re going to be able to inhabit. Seeing everybody during that episode take on these new personas was exciting and it was also just like fantasy and space. I mean, where do you do that other than the way that we do it in Star Trek?”"

“The Elysian Kingdom” is one of my favorite episodes as well, and being on the outside looking in, I can only imagine how magical it was to be a part of such purely perfect fantasy! Both Melissa Navia and Celia Rose Gooding will return for season two and hopefully, for another fantasy episode.
