Mica Burton plays engineer Alandra La Forge on Star Trek: Picard.

Mica Burton just made her debut on Star Trek: Picard as Commodore Geordi La Forge’s daughter, Alandra. She joined her dad and her sister, Sidney, played by Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, aboard the USS Titan. Following her appearance there, she and her real-life father, LeVar Burton, sat down with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt to discuss Picard’s latest episode and where things could go from here.

When asked if she would come back for a spin-off, Mica was enthusiastic. She especially thought two siblings aboard a starship would be fun to watch, especially since it’s never been done before. And that’s an interesting truth. We’ve never seen two siblings working together aboard a starship in Starfleet. So it would definitely be an interesting concept, especially if one outranked the other eventually.

"“I mean, Alandra is an engineer. She knows exactly her position, she knows that position well. She’ll fit in on any Starship, and also she needs to keep an eye on her sister. Older sisters aren’t always right. Older sisters don’t always know what they’re doing. You need the younger sister’s intuition to kind of be there and keep her out of trouble. So I think that any sister dynamic is always fun to watch happen, any sibling dynamic. So two siblings on a Starship, that’s never happened before. We need to see that. We need to see how that would go down.”"

Mica Burton would fit right into a Star Trek: Titan spin-off.

Much of the Titan’s crew was removed when Commander Ro Laren came aboard to question Admiral Picard and Captain Riker. So if the ship is to resume its place in Starfleet once the Changelings have been defeated, it’s going to need an engineer. It seems there is a spot open at present, and it’s highly doubtful that Captain Shaw would turn down a request for transfer from Commodore La Forge’s daughter.

There have been so many talks about spin-offs, and I won’t deny that I’m a big fan of a USS Titan spin-off. It has virtually all new characters whose backstories haven’t been explored, and with the two sisters aboard, we would almost be guaranteed to see LeVar Burton showing up from time to time. It’s a win-win situation.
