Star Trek: Legacy is the next show that fans of the franchise want to see.

Currently (at the time of this writing), over 12,400 fans have signed the petition for the next show to be released by Paramount+. They’re all eager for a Star Trek: Legacy series which would involve the children of legacy characters as well as continuing to allow us to see some of our favorites from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and even Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

With all the fans the Star Trek franchise has, one might think that over 12,000 signatures isn’t that much, but looking at it in context makes a difference. Back in 2019 during the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, fans began a petition for a new show that would include Captain Pike, Spock, and Number One aboard the USS Enterprise. By the time that season had wrapped, the petition had gathered around 11,000 signatures and had captured Anson Mount’s attention. [via Trekmovie]

Star Trek: Legacy has already surpassed the demand for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds back in 2019.

We’re still three episodes away from the conclusion of Star Trek: Picard, and the demand for a new series has already exceeded that of a Captain Pike series. The call for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (as it became known) eventually reached over 30,000 signatures after season two of Star Trek: Discovery concluded. In 2021, Paramount+ announced the new series.

Anson Mount was behind the fans all the way, and undoubtedly, that helped bring the series to fruition. We already know many of the Star Trek actors currently on Picard have given a thumbs-up to continuing the journeys of legacy characters and the new characters. So I would be very surprised if this series doesn’t get the go-ahead some time in the future.
