Nothing has been decided about a potential Star Trek: Legacy series, but that hasn’t stopped fans from getting the ball rolling on their own.

Since Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) made his appearance on the bridge of the USS Titan, fans have been fascinated with this uniquely different character. Unlike any other captain we’d seen on Star Trek, Shaw is arrogant, sarcastic, and adheres to every Starfleet protocol, at least until he learned it had been infiltrated by Changelings. Not long after Star Trek: Picard appeared, fans began clamoring for a Star Trek: Titan series with Stashwick as the lead.

Now, a VFX artist who worked on Star Trek: Picard, who goes by the name of Pundus on Twitter, used the introduction for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to create a magical opening for what could become a new Star Trek series. With the title of Star Trek: Legacy, as Picard showrunner Terry Matalas said he’d call a series that involved these characters, the intro showcases the Titan as it glides around planets and zooms through the galaxy. And it has gotten positive feedback from Stashwick himself who responded with a simple but well-put “Whoa.”

It’s too soon to know if a Star Trek: Legacy series will be created.

But fans are quick to point out that Anson Mount now heads up Star Trek: Strange New Worlds because of Star Trek: Discovery fans who started a petition and asked for it online. A similar petition is already underway for a Legacy series with Terry Matalas as the showrunner, and as of this writing, it has received 15,325 signatures. That is a lot of fan demand.

And the responses to this new intro has been overwhelmingly positive with fans calling it “amazing” and “stunning” while adding that this series needs to happen.

What do you think? Would you watch a new series with Captain Liam Shaw helming the USS Titan?
