Star Trek: Picard has hinted at Jack Crusher being more than a man.

Star Trek: Picard has not made Jack Crusher an easy character to figure out. Despite being named after Beverly Crusher’s ex-husband, Jack is the biological son of Jean-Luc Picard and Beverly. He’s not been an easy character to figure out, not least of all as to why Beverly felt it was appropriate to name him after another man who wasn’t related to him at all.

That’s another rant for another time.

Jack is an enigma, which is the long and short of it. He’s got weird powers and has wild visions that have been afflicting him more and more as the show goes on. Deanna Troi wants to help Jack but much of what is happening with the new Trek character is being built around the idea that Jack is human.

But is he? Is he even the son of Jean-Luc Picard?

Star Trek: Picard’s Jack Crusher isn’t easy to figure out

There are several thoughts about what Jack could be. A changeling is certainly an option. Though that’s not entirely likely, as he seems to have Picard’s genetic disease. Though that could be a coincidence. Nerdist suggests that Jack could be a human-Borg, which is entirely possible knowing how much Picard likes to go back to the Borg-well.

Yet, what if Jack isn’t a Borg or a Changeling, but instead an augment? That’s right, just like Khan Noonien Singh, Una Chin-Riley, and Julian Bashir; what if Jack was altered by Beverly for some reason?

It would explain how he’s able to do all the things he can do, without making it nonsensical like making him a human-Borg or a Changeling. After all, Star Trek borrows from itself a lot, and they’re doing an Augment storyline with Una, so why not double-dip?
