Star Trek: Picard revealed who was sitting in the Captain’s chair of the Enterprise-F.

There have been questions surrounding the show for the last few weeks, questions that are now being answered. One answer we weren’t sure we’d be getting surrounded the identity of the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise-F, the next in the line of ships bearing the Enterprise name.

Well, during the events of Star Trek: Picard’s ninth episode, “Vox” we found out. In what was supposed to be a celebration of Starfleet ingenuity, the fleet showed off a new program that allowed every Starfleet ship to move as one, in lock-step with one another.

The leader of this new fleet-wide mandate was none other than Admiral Elizabeth Shelby, who had taken control of the Enterprise-F for the demonstration. Though, things would not go well for those involved in the demonstration.

Terry Matalas really doesn’t like keeping characters alive in Star Trek: Picard

In what would end up being the third pointless death in the last few episodes, starting with Ro Laren and continuing to Liam Shaw, Elizabeth Shelby wouldn’t be far behind. After finding out the Changelings were working with the Borg to spread contaminated DNA via the transporters, the heroes rushed to warn the Federation. It’s there that Will Riker remarked how “Borg-like” Shelby’s new system was, a dramatic departure for the character from 35 years prior.

Almost immediately after the remark, every Starfleet crewmember 25 and under was taken over by the Borg, and in turn, the Borg used the ships to destroy anyone who was stepping out of line.

While the young crew members took over the ships, two of her own crew members seemingly killed Shelby as she sat in the captain’s chair of the Enterprise-F.

So there goes another character.
