Star Trek: Picard sees Brent Spiner and the Next Generation crew back together for the first time since Star Trek: Nemesis.

Star Trek: Picard promised, and delivered a reunion of everyone from the Next Generation, save for a handful of names that either appeared in season two or had minor nods to their characters. While the Guinans, Natasha Yars,  and Wesley Crushers of the Next Generation were important, it was the core crew that fans wanted to see one more time.

Jean-Luc Picard, William Riker, Dean Troi, Worf, Geordi La Forge, Data, and Beverly Crusher; the core seven of the series were back once again, just like fans wanted.

And this time, the crew and shockingly enough, their ship, are getting one final adventure to ride off into the sunset. Why are they getting this final adventure? Because their last story, Star Trek: Nemesis, was just flat-out bad.

In fact, the seven friends have not been together, on-screen anyway, since Nemesis. But it’s not like they haven’t seen each other.

The Star Trek: Picard cast never stopped seeing one another after Star Trek: Nemesis

Brent Spiner, the man behind Data, spoke to TrekMovie.com recently and spoke about what it was like getting back together with his friends for another Trek adventure.

"TrekMovie: In episode 8, we saw all of you together for the first time since Nemesis. I know you guys get together at Rick Berman’s house and such, but what was that like for you as a group to be on set together in costume?Brent Spiner: Beyond Rick’s house, we see each other all the time. We talk all the time. We have lunch and dinner and Christmas together. We’re very good friends, but it’s the first time those characters have met in a scene together since Nemesis. And yeah, it was really kind of amazing. I loved it. I love looking around and seeing everybody and thinking, “Wow!” Here we are 36 years later, or whatever it’s been, still playing these characters and playing them more fully than we ever have."

To hear how Spiner talks so passionately and profoundly about these people he’s shared a lifetime with, it’s very easy to understand why this crop of actors and characters work so well together. There’s so much genuine love there, and it’s been nursed and developed between them for 40 years.

It’s truly amazing to see how well they all mesh together, even after all these years.
