Star Trek: Strange New Worlds gets its first teaser trailer.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the current flagbearer of the franchise. Its first season did fantastic in the rating department and was such a hit that it actually crossed over into the mainstream, becoming Paramount’s first Trek series that actually seemed like it brought in non-Trek fans to the app.

The combination of cast members, led by Anson Mount’s Captain Christopher Pike was heralded for being one of the best constructed in years, and truly one of the better written. It not only attracted new fans to the service and the franchise, but galvanized many older and newer Trekkies at the same time by both being fresh and new, but also staying close to what made Star Trek what it is.

Ahead of its second season, coming this June, Paramount released a trailer for the show second season that had a lot of big moments in it.

Star Trek: Strange New World’s season two will feature Klingons, Kirks, and more!

As seen in the trailer above, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will bring back the Kirk brothers, James and George Kirk, possibly having the brothers share actual screen time for the first time in franchise history. The return of George Kirk isn’t surprising, as he was part of the Enterprise crew in season one, but James Kirk’s arrival seems a bit shocking, as he was only seen at the end of season one, which was an alternate timeline.

This time, however, James seems to have a secret admirer in La’an Noonien Singh, the descendant of his eventual mortal enemy, Khan Noonien Singh.

The trailer also continues to undo the damage of earlier Nu Trek franchises, by making the Klingons look far more in line with fan expectations, thus alleviating a lot of concerns that the show would continue with the purple orc designs that so many fans hated.
