Star Trek: Legacy could find a way to bring back Captain Liam Shaw.

Star Trek: Legacy is an idea from Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas that would feature Jack Crusher, the La Forge sisters, and others in a new show. The show would feature the “next generation” of characters with some type of lineage that dates back to the Next Generation series. It would also feature Seven of Nine in some form, and possibly, Liam Shaw.

Now, that last name may be a bit harder to do, as Liam Shaw died during the events of Star Trek: Picard. Does that mean that Shaw is automatically out of the running to pop up in the show, assuming Matalas can get it going? No, and you don’t have to rely solely on something like a prequel either.

One idea to get Todd Stashwick, who plays Shaw, back in Star Trek was to do Legacy as a prequel series. That’s silly and pointless. Another idea is to do what some other shows like Arrow and House of Dragons have done and set the show at two different points in time. Again, dumb. We have better options.

Three ways you could bring back Liam Shaw

Hologram Liam Shaw

Bringing back Stashwick as Shaw would work if he were a hologram. The idea has worked for Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Prodigy, as well as the enormous popularity of The Doctor on Star Trek: Voyager. So why not do it with Shaw?

Clone or Golem Liam Shaw

I’m more in favor of the golem idea, as it harkens back to how Jean-Luc Picard and Data were both able to die and come back, so why not for Shaw? Either that or do the clone gimmick.

Didn’t actually die Liam Shaw

I mean it’s Trek, we can just write that he’s part of Section 31 and call it a day.
