What do we know about Star Trek: Strange New World season two?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is getting ready to release its latest season, and sadly it may be among the last new Star Trek content we get for some time. Outside of the second season, and Star Trek: Lower Decks, there is no Trek property that’s finished and in the can. Everything still has some work to be done and due to the writer’s strike, that work isn’t being finished for now.

Even the final season of Discovery still likely has work to do on it. So Strange New Worlds has got to hit the current season out of the park to help satiate fans and their appetites. A lofty task for the most critically acclaimed Star Trek series in Rotten Tomatoes history.

The second season has huge shoes to fill. Not only does it have to live up to or surpass the first season, but it has to do so knowing that there may be a huge chunk of time between the end of Lower Decks and any new content being released.

Let’s look at what we know so far about the series and see if we’re right to be hyped for the show’s return.

Everything we know about Star Trek: Strange New World season two

Who’s coming back?

The entire main cast is back from season one, with the only starring character, Hemmer, not being brought back.

Will there be any new or returning characters?

Of the non-main characters both James and George Kirk will return to the show after debuting in season one. Debuting this season will be Carol Kane, who’s playing the role of Pelia. Pelia is serving as the ship’s new Chief Engineer.

Also making their Strange New Worlds debut are Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid, reprising their characters from Lower Decks; Beckett Mariner, and Brad Boimler respectively, but in live-action form this time around.

There’s also a strong chance that Spock’s ne’er-do-well brother, Sybok makes his official debut in Strange New Worlds.

What show is it crossing over with?

The debut of Mariner and Boimler on the series is not by coincidence, as it will serve as a crossover with Lower Decks, which will debut its next season after Strange New Worlds finishes its second season.

When is it debuting?

The second season is debuting on June 15, 2023, and will air one episode per week for 10 weeks.
