May 22 is a special day for Captain Benjamin Sisko fans as it’s been officially named as The Sisko Day.

Cirroc Lofton, who played Jake Sisko on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and is also the host of 7th Rule podcast, has guests aplenty lined up to celebrate Captain Benjamin Sisko on May 22. In an interview with Trekmovie, Lofton shared that Captain Sisko would be honored on May 22 as that was the day Avery Brooks’ character was announced as the Emissary on the series.

The day begins at The Sisko Day  (www.thesiskoday.com) at 8am PT / 11am ET with Ira Steven Behr sharing his views on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and how important the show was and still is. Throughout the day, there will be panels, behind-the-scenes with Larry Nemecek, a live recording of a DS9 Deep Dive Review of the first season episode, “Captive Pursuit” by 7th Rule, and so much more.

The Sisko Day is a way for fans to give back to Avery Brooks and to pay homage to the captain.

With special guest stars like Tawny Newsome (Star Trek: Lower Decks) and Celia Rose Gooding (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), the day offers something for everyone, concluding with a roundtable discussion of favorite Sisko moments that begins at 9pm PT/12am ET. At the website, fans can write on a digital wall, letting Avery Brooks know how they feel about Captain Sikso, and the page will be sent to Brooks afterwards.

This is a wonderful way to acknowledge the dedication Brooks had for this phenomenal character and the hard work he put in to make Captain Sisko a beloved member of Starfleet. And with approximately fourteen hours of memories, music, and conversation, this promises to be a truly epic way to honor a legend.
