Some people actually claim that Vadic of Star Trek: Picard was the greatest villain ever.

Usually, people fall into one of four camps when we talk about Star Trek villains and who is the greatest. There’s of course Khan Noonien Singh, the Borg Queen, Gal Dukat and Q. Now Q is more of an antagonist and less a villain but he qualifies. Yet, there are some who actually believe that Vadic, who wasn’t even the main villain of Star Trek: Picard’s final season, is one of, if not the best villain ever.

Trek Central wrote an article explaining why she isn’t one of the best villains ever, and that shocked me, as I didn’t know such an essay was necessary. Vadic wasn’t even the best villain on her own show, yet there are enough people out there suggesting she is to the point that a well-respected Trek fan site has to do a 1,500-word essay on the matter.

Yes, Amanda Plummer is the daughter of Star Trek royalty. Her father, Christopher, played Kang the Klingon in Star Trek VI and is seen as one of the most vaunted villains of all time. Even then, he’s still just a B+ villain compared to Khan, the Borg Queen, Dukat, and Q.

And for Amanda, her villain work wasn’t even as good as her father’s.

Vadic wasn’t even the best Changeling villain in Star Trek history

Vadic’s villainous role in Star Trek: Picard wasn’t really all that unique or original. She didn’t have her own flare, and at times, was rather silly as far as villains go. I didn’t feel like her performance was overly powerful or unique in any way.

Especially considering we’ve seen better Chagneling villains in Star Trek history as well. Her motives were no different than theirs, but even more poorly executed considering that the Changelings were pretty much done with war after the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Vadic was a fine villain and Plummer did the best she could do. By no means was her portrayal bad but it never did rise to the level of the top tier of Trek villainy.
