Star Trek: Enterprise could be coming back to the Star Trek franchise

Star Trek: Enterprise and its amazing cast of characters have been, for the most part, tossed to the curb. There might be a mention here and there, but we’ve not seen one of the characters on a current Star Trek series, even though we have  seen (or heard) characters from all of the other series from 1966-2001.  It’s almost as if the series has been forgotten about altogether. Certainly the characters haven’t been on anyone’s radar…until now.

In a recent interview with Den of Geek that Chad wrote about, Akiva Goldsman, the showrunner for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds mentioned that the “folks from Enterprise could still be around” when he was talking about crossovers. And though Goldsman didn’t specifically mention how this would occur, time travel certainly would be a possibility, something some fans might not be in favor of. I disagree whole-heartedly as time travel episodes were some of the best ones in Star Trek.

Bringing back Star Trek: Enterprise, in however it can be brought back, is a necessity.

Looking back, episodes like “The City on the Edge of Forever” from Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s “Trials and Tribble-ations” were some of the best in Star Trek drama and comedy respectivelly. So, from what I can see, there isn’t a downside to bringing the characters of Enterprise back via a time travel episode. In fact ,it would make perfect sense.

With time travel, the characters would not have to be 150 years old or older. The crew of Strange New Worlds could head back in time and end up aboard Captain Archer’s Enterprise for a number of reasons.

  • Dr. M’Benga could need medical help to save the crew from a horrible disease, and Dr. Phlox is the only doctor who’s ever created the cure.
  • The crew has encountered the Xindi who are building a new weaponin an attempt to conquer Earth. It would make sense for Captain Pike to seek guidance from the one crew that bested that particular alien race.
  • A war between two never-before-seen alien species leaves Cadet Uhura with her hands full as she’s trying to interpret their language, and she needs Hoshi Sato’s linguistic skills.

These are just some samples, and if I can come up with ideas, I know the minds behind Star Trek: Strange New Worlds can. As long as the episode makes sense, doesn’t traverse too far away from canon, and doesn’t end up making the crew of the original Enterprise seem like  fan service, it would be a great way to reintroduce the cast of Star Trek: Enterprise and let the newer fans meet them.

Next. It’s time for Trip Tucker to be resurrected onscreen in another Star Trek series. dark
