Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: A Stich in Time was written by Andrew Robinson who played Elim Garak on the series.
Now the actor is bringing the book to life in the audiobook version which will debut on August 1, 2023. Robinson played Elim Garak, the Cardassian tailor with a mysterious past and questionable ethics. After the series ended, Robinson wrote a story about Garak’s return to Cardassia and the destruction and devastation he finds there. It takes a letter from an old friend, Dr. Julian Bashir from the space station, to help him see that what he never wanted to be, a tailor, is what Cardassia needs most of all.
The story was published over twenty years ago, but now Pocket Books is bringing it to audio with Robinson as the narrator. According to Chris Lynch, President & Publisher of Simon & Schuster Audio, , many fans have wanted the book to be in audio for a long time.
"“A Stitch in Time audiobook has long been near the top of many Star Trek fans’ wish lists. We are thrilled that Andrew J. Robinson will fulfill those wishes and give voice to his classic Deep Space Nine tale.”"
Andrew Robinson loved revisiting Garak and his story
The actor also told Startrek.com that narrating the book for the audio version was a true labor of love. He realized how much he missed the character, but not the make-up. He hopes fans who’ve read the book and will be listening to it for the first time will enjoy hearing this different journey of Garak’s as much as he enjoyed taking it again.
"“Narrating the book for the audio version and revisiting Garak and his story was a true labor of love. It made me realize just how much I miss the rascal (but not the make-up!). I hope that people, including those who have read the book, enjoy listening to Garak’s remarkable journey as much as I enjoyed taking it again.”"
