Star Trek: Prodigy fans can help save the show by purchasing Volume 2 on DVD and Blu-ray.

The sudden reversal by Paramount+ about the future of Star Trek: Prodigy was a jarring one. Originally greenlit for a second season by the streaming service, the service unexpectedly canceled the show mid-way through the production of season two to help save money. The streaming service is hemorrhaging money and is looking for any way to save money by any means necessary.

So Prodigy was axed, and several other shows were and will likely end/be ended early to help save on money (Picard and Discovery among them). While the service won’t finish or even air the second season of Prodigyg (or its first season), they are looking for a new home for the show.

To help the show get picked up, whichever service or channel gets it will likely need to see that it’s profitable enough to pick up. That means purchasing merchandise for the show, including but not limited to DVDs.

Star Trek fans can help save Star Trek: Prodigy by buying DVDs and or Blu-rays

Star Trek: Prodigy released a DVD and Blu-ray already for the first volume of season one. That set had the first 10 episodes of the season, and once the show was canceled, the Blu-rays sold out across the internet.

Now fans can get the second half of the first season, with the release of the Vol. 2 confirmed. Fans can now preorder the second volume of the first season by preordering it via Target.com. The second-half lands in stores on Sep. 26.

Pre-order prices for DVDs are running at $7.99 and Blu-rays at $21.99

That said, it should be noted that the series will likely be released in one combined set later on in the year if there’s demand for it.
