Star Trek: Lower Decks continues to live off of nostalgia in Season 4 trailer

Star Trek: Lower Decks debuts its new trailer for the fourth season of the show.
Star Trek: Lower Decks debuted its new trailer at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, coming off the heels of its crossover with Strange New Worlds debuting at the same event. The new trailer’s major focus is on a secret threat that’s targeting ships across the galaxy; both Federation and not.
It seems like an interesting, unique, and wholly original story. Unfortunately for Lower Decks, the show continues to reference and live in the nostalgia of the franchise. At this point, it’s the entire identity of the show. So if you’re a fan of being reminded of everything you’ve already seen before, Lower Decks is for you.
The trailer also briefly mentions the crossover with Strange New Worlds, referencing to the “Pike thing” at the end of the trailer.
Here’s the official synopsis of Star Trek: Lower Deck’s fourth season (via Trekmovie.com)
"In season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks an unknown force is destroying starships and threatening galactic peace. Luckily, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos isn’t important enough for stuff like that! Instead, Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford and Provisional Ensign T’Lyn are keeping up with their Starfleet duties, avoiding malevolent computers and getting stuck in a couple caves – all while encountering new and classic aliens along the way."
When does Star Trek: Lower Decks’ fourth season premiere?
Right now the premiere date for the fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks is on Sep. 7, 2023. On that date, the first two episodes will premier for fans to enjoy. While some are reporting that it’ll debut on Star Trek Day, we have to continue to remind people that there may not be a Star Trek Day this year if the actor’s and writer’s strikes continue.
