If Paramount+ hasn’t figured it out by now, fans aren’t happy with the cancellatin of Star Trek: Prodigy.

And in case there is any doubt, one only has to look to the “Save Star Trek: Prodigy!” petition on Change.org which has now topped 30,000 signatures. The executive producer of Prodigy, Aaron Watke, called Star Trek fans “the best fans” when he shared images on his Twitter page when the numbers on the petition climbed higher than the one for a pre-TOS series with Captain Pike in 2019.

As CinemaBlend pointed out, now is the prime time for Prodigy to find another home as with the writers and SAG-AFTRA strikes still ongoing, content could be running thin on streaming channels soon.  With no writers or actors to help create more material. streamers are bound to be looking for content that is ready to go. And the second season of Prodigy is in post-production which means it is nearing readiness for airing. So it just makes sense for some other channel to want to snap up this great series.

Another streaming channel will benefit from all of the fans behind Star Trek: Prodigy

Guaranteed viewers equate to guaranteed income, and fans of this series will follow it to its new home. If the numbers are high enough, which undoubtedly they will be, there’s a high possibility Prodigy will get renewed for a third season.

So even though Prodigy is out at Paramount+, it’s definitely not down for the count. And its success at another streamer will show those execs just how big of a mistake they made in the cancellation.

Star Trek fans are loyal when they love a series as other streamers have discovered when making previous Star Trek content available. And when the actors and writers are able to promote the show again, their voices will be one more reason why another streaming channel will want to add this series to its content collection.
