The Orville might be facing the same fate as Star Trek: Prodigy

Though Star Trek: Prodigy has been cancelled and removed from Paramount+, the creators and executive producers of the series aren’t giving up. They are reaching out to other streaming channels in an effort to, not only allow fans to see the completed second season, but also to keep the series rolling. While we may not know anything for a while about Prodigy, we do know that, with determination and fan interest, the show has a huge possibility of being renewed. And though it might not seem like it, Prodigy’s status offers hope for The Orville.

The Orville: New Horizons ended its third season a year ago today, and though fans have been clamoring for more information on the show’s renewal, so far, we haven’t received any concrete evidence that the series will be moving forward for a fourth season. But should the absolute worst happen and Disney cancels it, creator Seth MacFarlane has only to look to Kevin and Dan Hageman (Prodigy’s creators) for the next steps to take as the brothers are determined to keep the show going.

The Orville has a strong foothold in science fiction

And, quite frankly, a series like this is needed, especially if Paramount+ decides to eliminate more Star Trek series. The Orville: New Horizons has brought increased viewers to Disney+ and Hulu, and new viewers continue to find the show. So, hopefully, other streaming channels have been paying attention and will jump at the chance to have a hit series.

Orville fans are just as determined as Prodigy fans, and though The Orville doesn’t have an entire franchise behind it, it does have the uber-successful MacFarlane who, hopefully, will push for another home for the series should cancellation happen and Prodigy finds another streaming channel to call home.

So even if we get the dreaded news that MacFarlane’s series isn’t returning to Hulu, it doesn’t necessarily spell the end, especially once Prodigy is settled in its new home.
