Star Trek: Prodigy was cancelled by Paramount+, but that hasn’t stopped its creators from promoting the series and searching for a new channel.

Star Trek: Prodigy creators Dan and Kevin Hageman are on the hunt for a new home for the animated series since its cancellation and subsequent removal from Paramount+. And an exclusive reveal to Startrek.com of an almost five minute clip of the new season gives fans a reason to beef up their help with the hunt.

So far, Prodigy has only seen the return of two characters from Star Trek: Voyager—Admiral Janeway (voiced by Kate Mulgrew) and Captain Chakotay (voiced by Robert Beltran), but the clip brings back a famliar, beloved character who fits right in with the series as he’s a hologram—The Doctor (voiced by Robert Picardo).

Picardo doesn’t miss a beat in returning to the character that became such an integral part of Voyager. There’s even a “I’m a doctor not a…” line that will bring a smile to any Voyager fan’s face. And the animation of the character is spot-on. As expected, The Doctor hasn’t aged a day.

Star Trek: Prodigy also has one more surprise in this exciting clip.

The Doctor shows up to escort the former crew of the Protostar to Admiral Janeway’s new ship. Their upcoming mission is to inspect the wormhole that was created when the Protostar blew. The would-be Starfleet members are astounded to see a newly created, much more up-to-date version of Voyager which Janeway will command once again.

In less than five minutes, this clip should get fans excited about season two, and if any streaming channel execs are fans of Voyager, they should be excited as well. Introducing The Doctor and the newest version of Voyager almost guarantees the return of Voyager fans to watch the next adventures of Dal, his crew, and Admiral Janeway.
