Three different Kirk’s met up at Star Trek: Las Vegas

When William Shatner took up the mantle of James Kirk, no one could have foreseen the legacy that would go hand in hand with the character, or the series that he featured on; Star Trek. Since then, three men have taken up the mantel of James Tiberius Kirk; Shatner, Chris Pine in the Kelvin Timeline films, and most recently the Vampire Diaries’ Paul Wesley.

Wesley is playing the same character Shatner played, just earlier in his Star Trek career, while Pine is playing an “Elseworlds” type version.

But Wesley isn’t the only person who is playing a famous Shatner character on Strange New Worlds. Dan Jeannotte is also playing a character that Shatner played on Star Trek’s original show, the older brother of James, George Samuel Kirk.

Not to be confused with George Sr. who Chris Hemsworth portrayed on Star Trek 2009.

All four Kirk brothers met at Star Trek: Las Vegas

We never thought we’d see the day when the men who played James and George in the original series and the men who played James and George on Strange New Worlds would all share the stage together, but as you can see, TrekMovie.com got a photo of the moment.

Of course, Shatner’s turn as George Samuel was done just so they could kill James’ brother, and instead of wasting a day’s pay on someone to be a corpse, they just put Shatner in some makeup and had a mustache applied, and told Shatner to take a nap. We’re pretty sure the last part wasn’t real, but man, it would’ve been funny if it was.

It takes a lot to fill the shoes of Shatner, but it’s fair to say that both Wesley and Jeannotte have done a good job making these characters their own.
