The new Star Trek Day graphic was just revealed, and fans were quick to notice that three series weren’t represented

Star Trek released the newest graphic for the upcoming celebration of Star Trek Day, and for reasons unknown to fans, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Prodigy (there is an image of Captain Janeway, but not in animated form so as to represent Prodigy), and Star Trek: The Animated Series were not represented in the image. Neither was Captain Kirk, and that made fans especially unhappy.

It’s possible Paramount no longer has permission to use William Shatner’s likeness in graphics, but his image is still used on the Twitter header for the official Star Trek page. So that does beg the question: why is he allowed in one place but not the other?

As far as the series go, one could say that cancelled series were omitted as Star Trek: The Animated Series, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Star Trek: Prodigy was cancelled by their respective networks. But Star Trek: The Original Series is represented by Nichelle Nichols’ Lt. Uhura, and it, too, was cancelled. And while some could make the argument that The Original Series simply had to be there, most fans would agree that Star Trek is Star Trek.

Star Trek Day should include representatives of all Star Trek series

Fans of Enterprise have long felt the series has been largely ignored since its cancellation in 2005 as has The Animated Series. And a quick peek at the webpage for the September 8th celebration shows that most of the focus will be on the three active series at present: Discovery, Lower Decks, and Strange New Worlds.

The image includes all of Starfleet captains with the exception of Captain Archer, and while the powers-that-be might not think this is a big deal, if they spent any time reading the comments on social media, they would see how clearly wrong they are.

And it’s understandable that there isn’t enough room on one graphic for every favorite character, but perhaps more thought should have gone into the creation of this image, specifically taking what the fans would want into consideration.

Next. Star Trek: Prodigy could become a film series. dark
