It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a hit

The series is one of the most successful Star Trek series to date. It’s taken some wild swings and gone outside of canon, but that hasn’t dampened its ability to provide quality entertainment. And those big leaps are paying off, especially with the most recent musical episode, “Subspace Rhapsody.”

Thanks to the thoroughly entertaining episode, Strange New Worlds climbed the streaming channel charts two points [via Trekmovie], going from #9 the previous to #7 for the week of July to August 6th with 362 million minutes viewed, even beating original programming from other streamers like Apple TV’s “Hijack” and Prime Video’s “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.”

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds took a big chance with a musical episode

And now that the numbers are in, it’s clear the effort was well worth it, and if these numbers aren’t enough, the success of the soundtrack on Apple iTunes Album chart should solidify the episode’s popularity. The soundtrack ranked at #1 on August 4th, the day “Subspace Rhapsody” was released and remained in the Top 100 for the entire month of August.

And Paramount+ has provided a little something extra for those interested in learning the lyrics to the songs and singing along. It has uploaded six lyric videos on its Youtube channel. So if “Subspace Rhapsody” was one of your favorite episodes, you can now sing along…at least to some of the songs for now. The last video, the full performance of “We Are One” was uploaded eight days ago so it’s still a possiblity the rest will be going up soon! And with the success of this episode, it’s possible we may get more musical episodes on Strange New Worlds (or other Star Trek series) in the future.
