Is Erica Ortegas’ time on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds coming to a close?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds really hit home when they created the new pilot for the U.S.S. Enterprise, Erica Ortegas, as former pilot during the Klingon war. She’s been a hit with fans with her witty personality and daring talents behind the sticks of the famed ship. She’s also one of the few original characters created for the series. Of the leads, the only other character created just for this show has been La’an Noonien Singh.

The descendent of Khan Noonien Singh.

It stands to reason that both Ortegas and Singh may not be long for the franchise, as neither character is ever referenced or seen in any piece of media going forward. We know that the likes of Christoper Pike, Una Chin-Riley, Spock, Christine Chapel, Joseph M’Benga, Nyota Uhura, and now Montgomery Scott are all around in the original show.

And since the original show is the “sequel” to Strange New Worlds, we know that none of them are in any dangered of being killed off. That can’t be said for Ortegas or even Singh for that matter.

Would Star Trek: Strange New Worlds kill off Erica Ortegas or La’an Noonien Singh?

Considering that Ortegas isn’t the ship’s pilot in only a few years; and with how talented she’s shown herself to be behind the stick, it’s very likely that she’s either dead or resigned from Starfleet by the time the events of the Original Series transpires.

As for La’an, the same can be said as well. She’s not a character that seems to have a huge future in front of her. Her name never gets mentioned after the events of Strange New Worlds, no different than Ortegas, so it stands to reason that she too is either dead by the events of the Original Series, or is out of Starfleet.

More than likely, when the show ends, one will likely die and the other will likely leave Starfleet in part due to the other’s death. But that’s only speculation.
