Star Trek is releasing five new very short animated Treks starting tomorrow
Tomorrow is Star Trek Day, and CBS Studios is releasing a series of all-new animated promotional spots or very Short Treks.
September 8th is Star Trek Day, and as is the custom, new things are rolling out of the gate. This year, CBS Studios is launching very short promotional spots in the style of “Star Trek: The Animated Series,” which is appropriate since The Animated Series debuted fifty years ago on September 8, 1973.
Each of these very Short Treks will feature the voices of some of our favorite characters from all across the Trek franchise, including Connor Trinneer as Trip Tucker, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Doug Jones as Saru, Armin Shimerman as Quark. George Takei as Sulu, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, Noël Wells as Tendi, and Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura.
Sadly, no actors from Star Trek: Prodigy or Star Trek: Voyager are slated to voice any characters from the respective series in these Short Treks. And iit’s evident these promotional spots won’t be considered a part of canon, considering Trinneer’s character of Trip Tucker was killed in the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise and hasn’t yet been brought back to life onscreen. And Horak’s character of Hemmer was also killed on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, although, he has returned briefly this season.
What is the schedule for Star Trek very Short Treks?
Creative consultant Casper Kelly is the talented mind behind these new very Short Treks. Kelly’s best known for his work on Star Trek: Short Treks and the viral smash hit “Too Many Cooks.” His first spot will launch tomorrow on September 8th only on Startrek.com, and its official “Star Trek” YouTube channel.
After that, the additional animated spots will release weekly on Wednesdays through October 4th at 10:00 AM, PT/1:00 PM ET. Here are the titles and the upcoming release schedule.
