Star Trek may come up short at the New York Comic Con panel in October due to the ongoing strikes.

Star Trek will return to the convention circuit officially with the New York Comic Con on Oct.12th  through the 15th at the Javits Center in New York City. Trek’s official time at the convention will come on Oct. 14 at 1:45, and they’ll host fans until 3:00 PM local time. You can find them at the Empire Stage, and sadly, due to the ongoing strikes, you won’t see much.

Trek will have no stars as part of their panel but will feature an advance screening of Lower Decks, which will also air for those not in attendance a few hours after it airs at the con; as that was what happened with the Strange New Worlds/Lower Decks crossover when it was aired at the San Deigo Comic Con.

The rest of the announcement, via TrekMovie.com, talks simply about standard ‘reveals and surprises’ for the fans as well.

"The fan-favorite STAR TREK universe returns to New York Comic Con, featuring a special advance screening of an all new episode from the current season of the hit Paramount+ original animated comedy series STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, plus more exciting reveals and surprises for STAR TREK fans in attendance!"

If you attend, the surprise and reveal will likely be nothing more than the newest trailer of Star Trek: Discovery’s final season.

The lack of Star Trek shouldn’t hurt the NYCC as much as the SDCC

The ongoing strike has killed the news cycles around the convention scene. And while it was pretty obvious how little impact his year’s San Diego Comic-Con made culturally, the New York Comic-Con isn’t as vaunted or celebrated, so the lack of actors and writers at the event to hype up Trek won’t hurt nearly as much.
