Jack Quaid proved Brad Boimler’s potential as a Starfleet captain in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

That Star Trek: Strange New Worlds crossover may have opened a door for the future of Ensign Brad Boimler. Jack Quaid currently portrays the ensign in the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks, but I’m not the only one who thinks Boimler could have an exciting future ahead in Starfleet as Screenrant writer Rachel Hulshult brought the same idea to the page back in July.

Right now Boimler isn’t ready for any kind of leadership; as he’s still learning the ropes of what it means to be a Starfleet officer (and still getting into trouble), but Strange New Worlds revealed a different side to the character, one that could set him up for a future promotion to a big chair aboard a starship. But he’s not the only character that could benefit from a leap to live-action.

Jack Quaid and his other cast members should exit animation and take to live-screen.

Quaid came across as a very strong, capable officer onboard the Enterprise after gushing over meeting his heroes. And when Tawny Newsome’s Ensign Beckett Mariner entered through the time portal, the pair worked together to find their way back home, creating an even better dynamic in live-action.

While Lower Decks has quite the devoted following, it just makes sense to morph the characters of this series into live-action once the series comes to an end. With a time jump, we could see the various careers and where the future leads these characters, and it would be a refreshing change. Basically, Lower Decks has already established a future Star Trek series that could showcase the talents of the crew of the USS Cerritos. We’ve already seen what two of them are capable of, and we’d love to see what becomes of them after they’re promoted from the lower decks.
