It should come as no surprise that Leonard Nimoy’s Spock tops the list as the best. Nimoy’s portrayal of the supremely logical Vulcan set the bar for these aliens, and no actor has yet to match his ability to portray a character whose emotions always simmer beneath the surface but are very rarely shown.

Nimoy captured the spirit of what Spock was meant to be, half-Vulcan and half-human. For the most part, he remained logical to a fault, but the times when his emotions were freed were both heartbreaking and glorious.

Nimoy continued the character into several movies and even into the J.J. Abrams’ reboot of the movies starting in 2009. Even forty-three years after playing the character first, Nimoy didn’t miss a beat when he wore the ears in 2009. We saw the exact same Spock from Star Trek: The Original Series. That was true talent, and it has yet to be repeated or topped.
