Community – Season 2, Episode 10 – Epidemiology

The first entry into the list comes from the Dan Harmon series that used to air on NBC (and later Yahoo! if you believe it). It’s a heavy Halloween-themed episode that features not only a lot of Abba but a true blue zombie outbreak. Caused by discarded Army supplies that seemingly cause zombieism, the community college study group has to find a way out alive or get eaten up.

The episode features one character, Pierce Hawthorne, played by Chevy Chase, dressed up as James Kirk. The costume isn’t the best and it’s hard to see any real resemblance between the elder study group member and Kirk himself, but a well-timed joke seals it.

If that isn’t enough Trek for the offering, one of the greatest stars of the franchise, and one of the few remaining cast members from the original series has a bit of a cameo. In the opening and closing bits of the episode, we can hear the icon himself; George Takei offering up some spooky narrations.

He isn’t given too much but as far as cameos go, his was must see.

Beyond Star Trek, there was a nice homage to Aliens, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Alien film, and arguably the best film of the franchise.
