Green Room
Green Room is not for the faint of heart, it’s also not for fans who have a hard time seeing their beloved Captain Jean-Luc Picard be a Nazi. Granted, we’re not talking about the actual character, but the actor who portrays him. Green Room is about a punk band that takes a gig at a backwoods venue, only to find out they were hired by a Neo-Nazi outfit.
That outfit, by the way, is led by Patrick Stewart. Stewart puts in one of the cruelest and most gruesome roles of his career. Stewart is downright repugnant in the role, and he fully comes to life in a villain role for the ages.
And while this horror-thriller makes the list alone for featuring Stewart, in a much more earnest and somber offering, the film also gives us another Trek standout but one gone far too soon; Anton Yelchin.
This was one of Yelchin’s last film roles before his untimely death and is among his best performances. He truly captures the fear and terror that being stuck in the middle of nowhere with Nazis would illicit. It’s also a crossover of Star Trek brands, as Yelton and Stewart are from two different eras and two different universes.
It’s a wonderful meeting between two Trek greats. This is a great watch for those who want something a bit more unnerving.
