Star Trek: Lower Decks is going to give one minor character far more attention next season.

Star Trek: Lower Decks just finished up season four in a big way, bringing back several minor, old-school characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and revolving a storyline that has been 30 years in the making. Now, the show is looking to do new things in season five, assuming Paramount+ doesn’t cancel Lower Decks the same way they did Star Trek: Prodigy.

Assuming Lower Decks does get its fifth season on Paramount+, the show will apparently focus a bit more on some minor characters, including one fan-favorite one. Mike McMahan, Lower Decks’ showrunner, spoke to Collider about just that.

Telling the outlet that they’re going to be focusing a bit more on the popular side character, the Vulcan T’Lyn. McMahan would go on to say that T’Lyn is going to get a lot of time in the next season, saying;

"There’s some really, really fun, funny stuff for her in Season 5. I don’t want to give away too– How can I say this? T’Lyn’s story in Season 5 involves her and another character in an interesting way, and you see T’lyn embrace science and Starfleet more than I think people anticipate."

Including more T’Lyn into Star Trek: Lower Decks is smart

T’Lyn is a character that the Lower Decks fandom absolutely loves, so it’s a smart move from McMahan to include more of her in the (hopefully) upcoming fifth season of the show. She’s one of the more interesting and popular characters, and for her to be involved in something more than the normal gag is going to be interesting to see unfold.

The way McMahan is hinting at this, it does sound like T’Lyn will be involved in a more romantic pairing, though that’s just an assumption on our part.
