Star Trek fans will see Robert Picardo and Jonathan Frakes pair up in an upcoming Hallmark movie.

Robert Picard and Jonathan Frakes will be taking off their holo-emitters and admiral pips respectively to take on a more festive look for the upcoming Hallmark film; A Biltmore Christmas. The two men are featured in the cast lists for the Bethany Joy Lenz holiday film, and we’re left a bit surprised that these two Trek legends, who have never really done anything together on screen, are being paired up in a Christmas film.

Sure, both Picardo and Frakes appeared in Star Trek: First Contact, but Picardo only shared a scene with Gates McFadden’s Beverly Crusher, not with Frakes.

So the two of them together got us thinking; what other odd pairings are out there? And what other genres could they do together? So with that, here are three other pitches we’d like to see with iconic characters who didn’t star with one another in a Star Trek series

3 Star Trek pairings we’d like to see outside of Star Trek

Jeri Ryan and Jolene Blalock – Mall Detectives

Imagine two women who are in the next stage of their lives, having to become detectives at the failing mall near their houses. And here’s the catch, they’re unhinged. Over the top and overly dramatic. A fitting juxtaposition for Jeri Ryan and Jolene Blalock, who played Seven of Nine and T’Pol respectively. Two of the most unemotional characters in Star Trek history.

Scott Bakula and Doug Jones – Whacky Wild West

So Scott Bakula playing a cowboy in a Wild West film would be really spot on. He’s got that gruff appeal and would do well as an elder cowboy. As for Jones? He’s the CGI’ed talking horse, of course.

LeVar Burton and Sonequa Martin-Green – PG Zombie Film

Sonequa Martin-Green of Discovery fame would return to her zombie past, portraying a character just like the one she played on the Walking Dead, but this time she’s paired with LeVar Burton of The Next Generation and Reading Rainbow fame, who is doing everything in his power to limit the amount of violence and swearing in the zombie apocalypse while also trying to spread the joys of reading. To zombies.
