What happened to Seven of Nine after she was rejected by Starfleet?

We all know Seven of Nine joined the Fenris Rangers, but what happened in those years after Voyager returned to Earth? Yes, she was rejected by Starfleet even with a recommendation by  Admiral Kathryn Janeway, but what led her to join the Rangers? Was there a preceding incident? What did she do during her time with the vigilante group? And did she keep in touch with Janeway?

These questions and more are about to be answered on February 27, 2024 when Star Trek: Picard: Firewall releases. Written by New York Times Bestselling Author, David Mack, Firewall picks up two years after Voyager’s return from the Delta Quadrant. After her rejection by Starfleet, she embraces a new destiny with the Rangers, but her connection with the interstellar rogue law enforcement corps could jeopardize her friendship with Admiral Janeway and affect the changes and connections she made aboard Voyager.

Will we learn more about Seven of Nine’s relationship with Icheb?

Icheb, a former Borg drone, was Seven’s pseudo-adopted son, and his death sent her on a mission for revenge. So we know the two must have remained close, but we don’t know much beyond that. Hopefully, he will appear in the book as will Admiral Janeway as their friendship seems to take a very important turn with Seven.

Mack offers more information about the novel on his website, and along with a longer synopsis of the book, you can find a preview of the music that inspired Seven’s story on Mack’s public playlist on Spotify. The author notes that a full guide to the playlist and how it connects to the story will be revealed after the book is released.

Star Trek: Picard: Firewall is now available for pre-order at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Books a Million. It’ll be available in hardcover and ebook.
