Star Trek: Away Missions! releases new expansion packs
By Chad Porto
Star Trek: Away Missions! has released new expansion packs.
Star Trek: Away Missions! is a tabletop board game that allows two players the chance to compete against one another until one side obtains victory. The game describes the interactions with the players as being able to “to complete missions, conduct espionage, fight in glorious battle, or assimilate distinctiveness” at least according to TrekCore.
We haven’t played it ourselves yet, but the core game features Locutus of the Borg and his lackeys taking on Wiliam Riker and several members of the U.S.S. Enterprise, with the story of the game taking place right after the infamous Battle of Worlf 359.
The game isn’t just that one set, however, as you can now get up to four expansion sets that bring in new characters, and new adventures, but that’s not all apparently. As TrekCore reports, the game is expanding beyond the current four expansions, with brand-new play kits.
But that’s to come, what is already out?
What new expansion packs are there for Star Trek: Away Missions!?
Right now you can go to your local game store or go online to get one (or all four) of the expansion sets.
There are two Klingon expansion packs, one featuring the legendary Next Generation and Deep Space Nine character Gowran, and another featuring the iconic Duras Sisters. They’re joined by a Romulan expansion which features Sela, the daughter of Next Generation character Tasha Yar. Lastly, there’s a Picard expansion pack, that features the iconic captain back in the fold.
He’s coupled with Beverly Crusher, Deanna Troi, Geordi La Forge, and what looks to be Wesley Crusher. This will round out the core of the Enterprise-D crew, as William Riker, Data, and Worf are present, as well as Elizabeth Shelby, the woman from Starfleet who aided Riker in their battles against Picard’s Borg alter-ego, Locutus.
