Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds bringing #mortegas
Now that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has moved into production, we may start to get a few tidbits of information about what we can expect in season three.
Of course, we don’t want to be spoiled by anything before season three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds starts, but we don’t mind hints every now and then. That’s exactly what we got from Rebecca Romijn when she joined other members of the cast for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Q&A, according to Screenrant.
Romijn said she was just going to go ahead and say it before announcing we’d be seeing more of Lt. Erica Ortegas in season three.
"” I’m gonna go ahead and say it. For season 3, get ready for some #Mortegas!”"
This is exciting news for those of us who are huge fans of the lieutenant piloting the Enterprise. Melissa Navia, who portrays Ortegas, says it’s wonderful when she hears from fans that they want more Ortegas as an actor couldn’t want for anything more. But she also acknowledges that this is an ensemble show, and it’s difficult when they only have ten episodes to pack so much information into.
Both seasons one and two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds have lacked much focus for Lt. Ortegas
For some reason, the other actors from the show have gotten plenty of screen time, especially Jess Bush and Ethan Peck, and while I adore those two actors and love their characters, I’m one of the ones who wants to know more about Ortegas.
We’ve gotten a lot of great backstory for Lt. Noonien Singh, Christine Chapel, and Dr. M’Benga, but we don’t know that much about Ortegas, and I’m hoping we’ll get some flashbacks or something from her history. She’s a fascinating character with what seems like a close relationship with Captain Pike. That’s what fans want to know more about. How did she get to be the pilot of the Enterprise? What happened in her younger years? And can we get a look at them or at least hear about the steps that brought her to the Enterprise? Hopefully, season three will really give us what has been lacking—#Mortegas.
