2025 may bring a significant first for the Star Trek franchise that’s long overdue for fans and collectors alike!
Star Trek was one of the first sci-fi properties to work merchandising well. The original TV show had its collection of dolls, sets, and other items that grew with the franchise. There are action figures, statues, life-sized props, and pretty much every type of merchandising imaginable has been used for Star Trek.
The one major toy-themed item Star Trek has never had? Legos.
It was in 1999 that the LEGO company first started creating sets based on entertainment with the Star Wars theme. It was an immediate hit, and today, LEGO produces sets for Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, Marvel, Avatar, and more. There are smaller sets and figures for movies like Wicked and even TV shows like Seinfeld.
Yet, somehow, Star Trek has never gotten an official LEGO set. While scores of fans have made their own Lego creations based on the franchise, for various reasons, Star Trek hasn’t gotten that treatment, despite how obvious a theme it is. The reasons seem to tie into various contracts or just a feeling of little interest in them.
However, that may be changing, as there have already been reports that LEGO and Star Trek are finally working together. Now we may have a date for it!

When does the first Star Trek-Lego set arrive?
Geekspin just gave an update citing unconfirmed reports that the first Star Trek LEGO set could arrive in time for Christmas of 2025. That would be a perfect gift for fans if it lives up to its promise.
According to early reports by insider Investabrick, the first set will be a recreation of the Enterprise-D, supposedly 3600 LEGO bricks with a detailed recreation of the bridge and mini-figures of Picard, Riker, Wof, Data, Geordi, Crusher, Wesley, and Guinan with various props.
It may be a bit surprising to debut the line with the Next Generation crew rather than the TOS batch instead. Then again, the Star Wars line began with The Phantom Menace sets before ones based on the original Star Wars film. Perhaps LEGO thinks the TNG crew might get a good start on the line and make the anticipation for a TOS set bigger.
Again, this is all going off unconfirmed reports, and one would think that LEGO would have announced more details if this was going on sale by the end of the year. For a project so big, it’s natural that the company wants to take its time to get it right, especially for a set that could go for about $400 for fans.
If this is a hit, the possibilities for LEGO Star Wars are limitless. There’s also the other Enterprises, the Defiant, a huge scale Deep Space Nine, and other alien ships and species. This could kick off one of the most successful Star Trek merchandise items ever and be worth the wait for fans.
