When you look at the who's who of stars in the franchise, you will get some of the biggest names that the world of science fiction has ever had. From William Shatner to Patrick Stewart, luminaries like Scott Bakula and Sonequa Martin-Green. Not to mention newer names like Anson Mount and Rebecca Romijn.

While a who's who of names, most of whom weren't mentioned in the above paragraph because we simply don't have the time, they don't represent every major sci-fi name out there. There are brilliant and wonderful franchises outside of Star Trek that have their own stars. From V to Stargate, to Star Wars and Jurassic Park. So many major properties exist and have created their own major stars.

Stars we'd like to see join Star Trek, even if only one episode or in a single film. So we're looking at just three of the many names that we hope can join Star Trek at some point in the near future.

Michael Shanks

He's the most "obscure" name on this list for the more mainstream crowd, but for many of us, he's an underground legend. Getting his break on Stargate SG-1, Shanks became a breakout star for the Sci-Fi (now SyFy) brand. He'd later end up on other sci-fi-heavy shows like Eureka and Smallville. Shanks has the presence needed to pair with other major names like Mount and Ethan Peck, so here's hoping he can share the screen with the likes of those stars soon.

Mark Hamill

Everyone on this site knows who Mark Hamil is. From Star Wars to Batman (as the Joker) and even a little stopover in a little-known movie called The Guyver, Hamill has done it all except for Star Trek. He's in his 70s now and after appearing in shows like The Fall of the House of Usher, he's willing to take on unique projects. So here's hoping he'll pop on over to Trek for a spell.

Edward James Olmos

Maybe the most accomplished actor on the list, but the least known for his sci-fi ways, Edward James Olmos would raise the acting bar on any show he appeared on. While his credits seem to swing more in the way of dramas, Olmos was the key player on the Battlestar Galactica reboot and was utterly brilliant in every scene he was in. Pushing 80, it's time that Star Trek and Olmos come together for a memorable performance that fans will spend a lifetime appreciating.
