Star Trek: Lower Decks is set to close out its run on Oct. 24, 2024, as the show premiers its fifth and final season. Airing on Paramount+, the final 10 episodes will bring a close to the show's run. While it's had a good run for a modern-era Nu Trek show, fans are still sad to see it go.

Whether you're sad to see it go, happy you got it, or a little bit of both, we have four things you should remember as he heads into the final stretch.

This is the final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks

For fans of Star Trek: Lower Decks, this is arguably the saddest piece of information we could pass along. The series is coming to a close and there will be no further episodes of the beloved animated-comedy. While it wasn't for every Star Trek fan, it certainly was one of the more creative and unique entities that the franchise ever produced. Say what you will, but you can't deny that. It was wholly its own thing.

The character's story continues on outside of the streaming series

While the series is over, the adventures continue on. The stories of the USS Cerritos and its crew will go from the streaming screens to the pages of IDW comics with a brand new comics series. Series creator Mike McMahan doesn't seem to have much involvement in the story and will be overseen by writer Ryan North, with Derek Charm doing the art. The first issue goes on sale on Nov. 13, 2024.

Not everyone is leaving Star Trek after the show ends

When the show ends, at least one of the voices behind Star Trek: Lower Decks will return. Tawny Newsome has already found a new role in Star Trek, helping write some of the early episodes for the upcoming new series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. She's also already been given her own show, a comedy set on a vacation planet, which may feature exclusively non-Starfleet personnel for the first time ever as its main characters.

There was a crossover with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which may lead to more cameos

The crossover series with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was such a hit with fans, that there are rumors that more crossovers featuring the crew and characters could happen. With Newsome returning to the franchise and the star of Jack Quaid (Lower Deck's Brad Boimler), the possibilities of even more crossovers and cameos are high.
