Fans are anxiously awaiting the premiere of the third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds even though, once the season starts, it will be over far too soon. We've already gotten a glimpse of comedy with Captain Pike {Anson Mount] and some of his crew members being changed into Vulcans, and most recently, we saw a brief teaser from the first episode of the season that picks up with the Enterprise crew still battling the Gorn. But there is much more in store for us according to Henry Alonso Meyers who appeared with Ethan Peck, Akiva Goldsman, and Carol Kane at a panel at New York Comic Con. [via Gamerant]

When asked to describe the third season using only three words, Alonso Meyers' replied with "dancing, murder, and surprise." Now, we already know there's going to be a Hollywood murder mystery according to Jonathan Frakes who directed the episode and called it one of his favorites. But we have not heard or seen anything about dancing.

Peck's three choices were "history, betrayal, and growth." So put those with Alonso Meyers' choices, and we've got enough to keep us scratching our heads until the season begins. Who's dancing with whom? What's the surprise? Who gets betrayed? Whose history are we learning more about? Or maybe it's not a crew member's history. Maybe it's the history of the Gorn.

And what about this surprise that Alonso Meyers mentioned? Isn't the entire season technically a surprise since we don't know what's going to happen? And while Akiva Goldsman's three words, technically four, were "get to season four," that doesn't some as a surprise as that's the goal of every season of a show—get another season renewal.

If there's one thing you can say about Strange New Worlds it's that it does keep us guessing, and I suppose that's what this "surprise" is all about. Hopefully, it won't be an unwelcome one.
