William Shatner is no stranger to awards, having won a Saturn for his 1983 portrayal of Admiral James T. Kirk in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, a Saturn for his guest-starring role on the sci-fi series, Haven in 2016, and, of course, we can't forget the two Emmys he took home for his portrayal of Denny Crane in both The Practice and Boston Legal. His career spans over seven decades and brings with it awards, nominations, and honors, with another coming up on February 2nd.

On February 2nd, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films will be giving Shatner a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Saturn Awards ceremony. In its announcement, the Academy described Shatner as a "living legend," according to Trekmovie. And there is no better way to put Shatner's life into words.

Each year, the Academy honors "individuals in either film and/or television for their outstanding work, to honor their illustrious careers as artists and icons and those who’ve helped further genre entertainment in the industry and beyond.” The former Captain Kirk has had an illustrious career and has gone on to further the sci-fi genre as well as others.

Even now, closing in on ninety-four, Shatner continues to push forward in his career with a recent appearance as Kirk in Roddenberry Archive's "Unification," upcoming appearances in The Keeper of the Cup with Dan Akroyd and the TV series, The Elevator. And his schedule for conventions is already booked into December of this year.

This year, the Saturn Awards will held at The Hilton Universal City Hotel and livestreamed for free on both Electric Entertainment’s premium OTT app and FAST channel, ElectricNOW and The Roku Channel on Sunday, February 2nd. The Academy has chosen to use its reach to let viewers and those attending know ways they can help support the Los Angeles community as it tries to recover from the devvastating fires.
