New fans are finding The Orville on Tik Tok

The Orville fans are impatiently waiting for news of a renewal for the series which ended its third season on August 4, 2022. Two years with little drips of information here and there are frustrating to say the least. Some fans may have even moved on from the sci-fi dramedy which has its roots firmly embedded in Star Trek. But other fans are sharing clips from the series, and those clips are bringing new fans onboard.

You only have to search TikTok to find snippets of some of The Orville's best episodes, many of which have received thousands, even millions of views. TikTokkers Jessica.tvseries, james.in.nyc, and stellau.chaneyfyp have shared clips that have grown in numbers and are directing new viewers to The Orville.

And the good news has made its way to X, and fans are already planning for season 4 which still hasn't been confirmed.

All of this new attention is pushing The Orville up in the rankings at Hulu as, according to Television Stats (@televisionstats) on X, the series was the #8 most popular show on the streaming channel on December 1st.

While all this attention doesn't guarantee that Hulu will renew the series, it's certainly a way to tell the channel that fans are rewatching and new fans are watching for the first time. For those who might think The Orville's time has passed, these numbers are proof that that isn't the case. Climbing into the #8 spot is no small feat!

Even though two years have passed since we last saw Captain Ed Mercer and his crew, those of us who have watched since the beginning are right here waiting for more adventures. And while there have been murmurings about season four, we'd much rather hear a definitive yes. This show deserves another season (or two).
