Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has already been greenlit for a second season. Likely done by the folks at Paramount+ to cut down costs. There's hype around the show, absolutely, but to greenlight a show this early into development for a second season is usually done because A) the show is tracking that well, or B) they would rather fund a show that could be bad for two seasons as it'd be cheaper than canceling it after one and giving even more money to greenlight a whole new show.

Yet, we have a sneaking suspicion that it's going to be good, as the hits just keep on coming. So far, Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti have joined the cast in major roles, with Hunter as the show's lead. Then they brought back major names like Tigo Notaro, Oded Fehr, and even Robert Picardo. That, with a young cast around them, has many, including us, excited about the show's potential.

If that wasn't already a major get, the folks at Star Trek just locked down a major name from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The former star of the hit sci-fi series Tatiana Maslany will join the cast for season two in a very unknown role. We have no idea what she'll be doing but we have high hopes, that's for sure.

While many fans will remember her from her turn in the highly-acclaimed sci-fi series Orphan Black, Maslany has a less impressive credit to her name that fans will likely be wary about; She-Hulk. The show was a disaster and many fans hated the series, as it both took itself too seriously and not seriously enough at the same time. Creating a weird juxtaposition that didn't resonate with fans.

She was fine in it, it was the writing and directing that was bad. So bad, that the show died a death, and a second season was never considered. That doesn't mean that Maslany is a bad actress, however. She's far from it and anyone who saw her in Orphan Black can attest to that.

Her addition is a good one, as she'll (hopefully) have better writing and direction than she did on shows like She-Hulk.
